Harold “Elmo” Veach, age 86, of Quincy, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025,
at Southern Ohio Hospice Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
He was born Friday, February 17, 1939, in Greenup County, Kentucky, a son of the late Paul and Ruth Blizzard Veach.
Elmo was a devoted member of Quincy Church of Christ and a very active member at Sugarloaf Church Camp in Wallingford, Kentucky. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a Mason and of the Scottish Rites, Rotary Club and was a notary public. He owned six stores in Vanceburg, Oak Hill, Ripley, Greenfield Hillsboro and Owingsville, with his preceding partners, Dwight and Susan King. He owned the mall in Vanceburg and worked at Wilcar for 30 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ron Veach and Kenneth Veach.
Elmo is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Pauline Conley Veach; two sons, Harold Elmo Veach Jr. of Quincy, Kentucky, Kevin (Belinda) Veach of Nicholasville, Kentucky; one daughter, Kim (Walter) Taylor of Quincy, Kentucky; 4 grandchildren, Lashawna (Gary) Wright, Jeremy Taylor, Keisha Taylor and Josie Elder; 6 great-grandchildren, Colin Wright, Jace Howell, Jru Taylor, Jaxon Taylor, Liam Wright and Jorjah Taylor; one sister, Donna (Cook) Farmer of Highland Heights, Kentucky; his care givers, Everett Kamer and Sherry Rickett, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue, Garrison, Kentucky, with Brother Steve Sammons and Brother Danny Bentley officiating. Burial will follow in Collier Memorial Gardens in Greenup County.
Friends may visit after 12 noon, Saturday, April 19, 2025, until the service hour at Globe Family Funeral Chapel in Garrison, Kentucky.
