Margarett Ann (Marshall) Sanders, 79, (July 25, 2025) and Harry Paul Sanders, 85, (July 26, 2025) of Grayson, Kentucky, passed peacefully from this life into the arms of their savior following a brief illness surrounded by their loving family.
Margarett was born September 10, 1945, in Load, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Fred and Edna Stephenson Marshall.
Harry was born November 6, 1939, in Ashland, Kentucky, the son of the late Craten and Mary Combs Sanders.
Margarett married Harry Sanders on June 6, 1964, at First Baptist Church, Greenup. Married just over 61 years, Harry “Peanut” and Margarett were blessed with two children, son, Kevin Sanders and his wife, Beth of Maysville, Kentucky and daughter, Kim Sanders Bush and her husband, Brian of Grayson, Kentucky. Their greatest title was Poppy and Granny to their grandchildren, Tyler and Brendan Bush of Grayson, Kentucky, Zane Sanders of Columbus, Ohio and Brady and Anna Grace Sanders of Maysville, Kentucky.
Margarett is survived by her brothers: Robert Marshall and his wife, Donna of Columbia, TN and Charlie Marshall and his wife, Cindy of Load, Kentucky and one sister, Leona Eastham and her husband, Larry of Greenup, Kentucky.
In addition to her parents, Margarett was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Leonard Marshall and his wife, Lyvonne; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Berma Lou and her husband, Larry Tackett; Stella and her husband, Billy Joe Wireman; Evalena and her husband, Phillip Howard; Ellen and her husband Shannon Click.
Harry is survived by one brother, Darrell Sanders and his wife, Carolyn of Plano, Texas and sisters-in-law; Margarett Emma Sanders of Ironton, Ohio and Lois Sanders of Indiana.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by brothers, Donald and his wife, Peggy Sanders; Clyde Sanders; John Sanders and sister, Brenda and her husband, James Speaks.
Margarett retired from the Greenup County Board of Education as cook at Greysbranch Elementary while Harry retired after 30 years of service at Armco (AK Steel) and retired as a Southern Baptist minister. He was a former pastor at Crane Creek Baptist Church, Lloyd First Baptist Church, interim pastor at First Baptist Church of Grayson and Wolf Creek Baptist Church where Margarett served with him faithfully, taking care of babies in the nursery, teaching VBS and helping serve many meals over the years. Harry graduated from Clear Creek Baptist Seminary and was also an active member of Baptist Builders and Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief.
Margie loved to cook and especially loved to treat her friends and family with her award-winning coconut cream pies. Peanut enjoyed a game of golf, and woodworking. They both enjoyed cheering on their beloved Kentucky Wildcats, Cincinnati Reds and everything that their grandchildren enjoyed.
Bro. Harry and Margarett were beloved members of Wolf Creek Baptist Church.
Uncle Peanut and Margie (Aunt Margarett Ann) were so loved by their many nieces, nephews and great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Joint services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Grayson with Bro. D.B. Patrick, minster. Both burials will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens.
