James Franklin “Frank” Burton, JR., 70, of Grayson, KY passed away Saturday, February 1, 2025. Frank was born on Monday, September 13, 1954, in Grayson, KY a son of the late James Franklin SR. and Dorthy Shepherd Burton. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Jill Kennedy Burton; one daughter, Frances Burton; and a brother, George Burton.
Frank served his country honorably in the United States Navy. Frank was master stone mason and was considered a jack of all trades. He enjoyed building things, whittling, and fishing. Frank loved antique trucks and spending quiet time in the woods.
Frank is survived by two daughters, Jami Smith of Grayson, KY and Sara (Breck Hogan) Burton of Hitchins, Ky; one son, James Franklin “JimBob” Burton III; twelve grandchildren; one brother, John Trent Burton of Grayson, KY; three sisters, Connie (Dale) Autry of Ringgold, GA, Judy (Robert) Brittingham of Chattanooga, TN, and Peggy (Galen) Bell of Ooltewah, TN; and a host of extended family and friends that will all mourn his passing.
A graveside memorial service will be 11 am Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East with military honors, provided by the US Navy and AML Kenova Post 93. A procession will be leaving Malone Funeral Home at 10:30 am Wednesday, escorted by the Kentucky Patriot Guard. Malone Funeral Home is both privileged and honored to be entrusted with Frank’s arrangements.
