Kennedi Grace McWhorter, age 13, of Morehead, Kentucky, was called to her eternal home on Friday, September 19, 2025. Born on May 21, 2012, in Ashland, Kentucky, she was the beloved daughter of Mark McWhorter and the late Kayla Blake. In addition to her mother, Kennedi was preceded in death by her papaw, Joe Church; and a aunt, Katie Ballard.
Kennedi was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her. A dedicated student at Rowan County Middle School, she excelled academically and was a passionate athlete. Her love for softball shone through in her performances on both her school and travel teams, where she thrived on the competition and cherished the friendships she built with her teammates.
A devoted member of Better Life Church in Morehead, Kennedi was actively involved in the church youth group, where her vibrant spirit and kindness touched the hearts of many. She had a remarkable ability to uplift those around her, and her faith was a guiding force in her life.
In addition to her father, Kennedi is survived by her brother, Oliver Trent Blake of Morehead; a sister, Morgan Blake McWhorter of South Shore; her maternal grandmother, Sandy Darlene Parsons; and her paternal grandparents, Mark (Mary) McWhorter, Sr. and Angela Leep; paternal great-grandmothers, Louise Church and Florence McWhorter; maternal great-grandmother, Elsie Seagraves; step-grandparents, Phillip (Joyce) Blake. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson, with Bro. Daniel Lucas and Bro. Brandon Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Gollihue Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 PM on Friday and will continue after 9 AM on Saturday until the service hour.
Pallbearers will be: Dusty Gollihue, Joey Ballard, Cade Cains, Josh Trent, Waylon Moore and Austin Blake.
