Lorene Vanderpool King, age 77, of Tollesboro, Kentucky, passed away Monday, May 26, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
She was born December 31, 1948, in Gun Lock, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Lonzo Vanderpool and Ethel Shepherd.
Lorene was a member of Petersville Church of God and loved singing in church. She enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with her family and church family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Claude Vanderpool, Marvin Vanderpool and one sister, Oma Sparkman.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Danny Lee King; one son, Jeremy (Amanda) King of Maysville, Kentucky; one daughter, Lori (Ryan) Kissell of Maysville, Kentucky; 4 grandchildren, Daniel (Navada) Kisell, Cody Kissell, Jamie King, Jacob King;1 great-grandson, Korvo Kissell; two brothers, Banner Vanderpool of Hippo, Kentucky, Milton Vanderpool; two sisters, Connie Handshoe and Virginia Prater both of Hueysville, Kentucky, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Petersville Church of God in Petersville, Kentucky, with Brother Milton Stanfield officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Garden of Memories in Mason, County, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 6 .m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and after 9 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2025, until the service hour at Petersville Church of God.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Petersville Church of God Widow’s Fund.
