Melissa Dawn Burke Gollihue, 52, of Grayson, KY, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. Surrounded by the love of her family and friends, she went to be with her Lord.
Born April 12, 1973, in Ashland, KY, Melissa was the beloved daughter of Pamela Nancy Adkins Burke of Grayson and the late Donald Ray “Coonie” Burke. A 1991 graduate of East Carter High School, Melissa possessed a warm and welcoming spirit, never meeting a stranger. Her kind heart and friendly nature touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Throughout her career, she worked with dedication at various establishments, including the Dollar Store, Fantastic Sams, and KFC, always approaching her work with a positive attitude.
Melissa’s life was enriched by the simple joys. She found solace in the creative outlet of coloring and cherished her passion for Lisa Frank and Hello Kitty. Above all else, she treasured the time spent with her precious grandson, Ruston Michael Layne Gollihue, who brought immeasurable happiness to her life.
In addition to her mother and grandson, Melissa is survived by her daughter, Shelbi-Rae Gollihue; her brother, Michael Sean (Casey) Burke, both of Grayson; and a host of close friends and extended family who will deeply miss her presence.
