Millie Smith Bloomfield, age 88, of Laurel, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2025, at UK-St. Claire Healthcare Center in Morehead, Kentucky, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Thursday, February 9, 1936, in Lewis County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Thurston and Rosie Bloomfield Smith.

Millie enjoyed gardening, watching westerns, cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Charles Jackson “Jack” Bloomfield; two sons, Norman Bloomfield, Darrel Bloomfield; one daughter, Tina Davis; four brothers, Gene Smith, Junior Smith, Charles Smith, Lovell Smith; four sisters, Nellie Marie Smith, Myrtle Cooley, Ida Mae Knell, Iness Knell and one son-in-law, Gary Miller.

She is survived by two sons, Jackie Bloomifeld, Curtis Bloomfield; three daughters, Lula Miller, Barbara (Harlan) Rickett, Judy Richmond all of Vanceburg, Kentucky; 7 grandchildren, Daniel, Amanda, Amy, Angie, Lacy, Terry and Dalton; 8 great-grandchildren, Hanna, Madyson, Nathan, Douglas, Noah, Trinity, Mia, Conner; 2 great-great-grandchilden Harlan, Holden; two brothers, Simon Smith of Vanceburg, Kentucky, Leon Smith of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one sister, Betty Davis of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one son-in-law, Doug Davis; one daughter-in-law, Diane Bloomfield, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2025, with Brother Ronnie Enix and Brother Daniel Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Gilliam Cemetery in Lewis County.

Friends may visit after 5 p.m., Monday, January 20, 2025, and after 9 a.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2025, until the service hour at Nolen Pentecostal Church on Laurel.
