Phyliss Jean Dove Morrison, 91, of Grayson, Kentucky, peacefully departed this life to be with her Lord on Monday, May 11, 2026, at the UK King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Born on December 12, 1934, in Yeager, West Virginia, she was the cherished daughter of the late James and Minnie Guy Dove.
Phyliss was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, James Fred Morrison, along with two sons, Charles Roseberry and James Morrison. She also joins her brother, Bobby Lee Dove, and two sisters, Bessie Evelyn Meadows and Nellie Wylie.
A devout Christian, Phyliss received Christ at a young age and nurtured her faith throughout her life. She was a member of the Trace Wesleyan Church in Rush, Kentucky. She enjoyed attending worship services and visiting with other congregations throughout the area.
As a homemaker, Phyliss dedicated her life to her family, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her nurturing spirit extended well beyond her immediate family; she embraced everyone with warmth and kindness. Phyliss found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially quilting, which allowed her to express her creativity and love for those she cherished.
Phyliss is survived by her four sons, Freddie (Debbie) Morrison of Ohio, Terry Morrison of Catlettsburg, Kentucky, Teddy (Tawnya) Morrison of Ashland, Kentucky, and Richard (Nicki) Morrison of Westwood, Kentucky; two daughters, Judith (Tom Gamble) Hanners of Ashland, Kentucky, and Teresa (Donnie) Miller of Rush, Kentucky. She will be lovingly remembered by her 19 grandchildren, as well as many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a host of extended family and friends who mourn her passing.
Funeral services to honor Phyliss’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Malone Funeral Home, with Minister Paul Tate officiating. Burial will follow at the Coalton Community Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
