Roger Lee Vanover, 73, of Rush, KY, went home to be with the Lord on December 30, 2024, the King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY. Roger was born on Saturday, July 21, 1951, in Ashland, KY a son of the late Isaac and Joyce Lucas Vanover. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Brenda Yogadich, Janice Sullivan, and Norma Stacy.
Roger retired from Argus Energy where he worked as an electrician. Roger was a devoted Christian, Husband, Father, and Grandfather. He was a faithful member of the MT. Olive Freewill Baptist church for 32 years. Roger taught the adult men’s Sunday school class for many years and was dedicated to studying his Bible.
Roger is survived his loving wife of 43 years, Betty J. Hannah Vanover; six sons, Roger (Veronica) Vanover, JR. and Randall (Anne) Vanover both of Ashland, KY; Michael (Missy) Wilson of Seymore, TN, Scott (Payton) Wilson of Dingess, WV, Tommy Wilson of Dunlow, WV, and Johnny (Melissa) Wilson of Grayson, Ky; five daughters; Kristina (Shannon) Jones of Grayson, KY, Shawn (Randy) Cole of Flatwoods, KY, Jenny (Larry) Davis, Stephanie (Dale Cordial) Wilson, and Susan Wilson all of Rush, KY; twenty-four grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Williams of Fort Richie, FL; and a host of extended family, church family, and friends that will mourn his passing.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the Hannah Family Cemetery in Kermit, WV, the funeral procession will be leaving the MT. Olive Freewill Baptist Church in Rush, KY, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, beginning at 5:00 PM with a church service at 7:00 PM all at the MT.
