William “Bill” Arthur Landis, age 83, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. Born on November 19, 1941, Bill was the cherished son of the late Elmer and Dorothy Berry Landis. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Nancy Connor Landis, and his brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Glenda Landis.
Bill was a devoted family man, known for his unwavering love and commitment as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His strong work ethic was evident throughout his career, culminating in his retirement as a service manager from Dow Chemical, Oil, and Gas Company.
A true enthusiast, Bill had a passion for NASCAR, with a special admiration for Dale Earnhardt, and he was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. His love for automobiles was reflected in his pride for his altered custom 1953 Chevy, which not only won Best in Show at the Super Chevy Car Show in Canfield, Ohio, but also earned a feature in the 1987 edition of Hot Rod magazine. Bill’s zest for life extended to his furry companion, Sniper, who was his loyal friend and confidant.
Bill is survived by his two precious daughters, Christie (David) McGlone of Catlettsburg, KY, and Connie (Duane) Brannan of Marietta, OH; two granddaughters, Brittany (Melissa) Brannan of Byesville, OH, and Elizabeth (Chris Lucas) of Catlettsburg, KY; and three great-grandchildren, Adalyn Rose Brannan, Paige Jones, and Timmy Lee Lucas. He is also survived by his two sisters, Ruthie Casper of Pocatello, ID, and Becky (George) Spencer of Buhl, UT, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will deeply miss him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Boyd County Animal Shelter, honoring Bill’s love for animals.
